All Coravin wine by-the-glass systems offer the freedom to enjoy wine on your terms – not the bottle’s. The key differences lie in how each system works and how long wine stays fresh once accessed.

With the Coravin Pivot® System, you open the bottle and immediately replace the original closure with the specially designed Pivot Stopper. Insert the Pivot Device through the Stopper to pour. As you pour, the system replaces what’s removed with pure argon gas to protect the remaining wine. Because the bottle has been opened, wine stays fresh for up to 4 weeks – ideal for most everyday bottles, ensuring your last glass tastes just as vibrant as the first. Pivot is a simple, accessible solution that works with any still wine, regardless of closure type.

Coravin Timeless™ wine by-the-glass systems, on the other hand, feature a precision-engineered needle that gently passes through the natural cork, allowing you to pour without ever opening the bottle. The remaining wine stays protected from oxygen and continues ageing as the winemaker intended – for even 20+ years later.

For screw cap wines, Timeless systems pair with the Coravin Screw Cap accessory, keeping wine fresh for up to 3 months. These models are ideal for pouring from special bottles, exploring wines as they evolve, or building a versatile at-home wine-by-the-glass experience.

Once you finish the bottle, remove the Stopper. Clean the Stopper by rinsing it in a steady stream of warm water for several seconds. Shake excess water from the Stopper cap. Dry with a soft cloth. Ensure the Silicone Rings on the Stopper are completely dry before inserting into a new bottle The Stopper will last for up to 1 year.

Bottles that are cracked or chipped can break. We provide a Coravin Wine Bottle Sleeve for safety if you are more comfortable using one.

Argon is an inert, non-reactive gas, which means it does not engage with the wine or its components. Because of this property, argon is used in Coravin's wine by-the-glass systems to protect still wines from oxidation without altering their taste or aroma. This ensures that each pour maintains the integrity and quality of the wine.
